Record Cam Sites With CaptureGem

The high performance desktop app for cam recording

Overview of the CaptureGem Settings: A Quick Guide

Updated October 24, 2024 by Admin
In this guide we will discuss the various CaptureGem settings and what they mean.

Basic Settings

Auto Record All Newly Added Models

When enabled, this will auto record models whenever they come online, and also restart recordings after any disconnections.

Enable Review Feature

Whether the review feature should be enabled or not. Note that when it is enabled, it will take more processing power after videos finish recording to create the thumbnail grids.

Enable Anonymous Error Reporting

This will report all severe errors to our remote database for remote error tracking, and this helps improve the software.

Cap Videos at Duration

Set the max duration of videos. Note that the exact duration will also change based on video length variability. If you change this setting, it only applies to future recordings and not any currently active ones.

Minimum Disk Space for Recording

Set the minimum disk space as a percentage to record your videos. If your available disk space falls below this, all active recordings will stop. You can change this setting to -1 to disable. The disk space check looks at the drive associated with your video output directory.

Change output directory

Change the directory you wish to save your final recordings to after they are done processing. Note that while they are recording, some temp disk space is used which may be on another drive than the output directory. On Windows the temp disk space is the same drive where the CaptureGem folder is located, and on macOS the temp disk space always uses the same drive as your /Users/[user]/CaptureGem_Data directory.

Advanced Settings

I/O interrupt delay (seconds)

This is an advanced setting that adds sleep interrupts between Stripchat video transcoding, which may help with disk performance and allowing other processes to use your disk better simultaneously. Most likely you will not need to touch this. Increasing the interrupt delay will make the video transcoding slower but could ease more performance.

Live Monitor Refresh Delay (seconds)

This sets the delay between generating new previews in the Monitor tab. Note that the Monitor tab only actively generates previews when you have the tab open in the user interface.

Network Timeout (seconds)

This changes the max time that an HTTP request can take to finish, as well as the max time before a recording receives new data, before it is considered a timeout. If a timeout occurs based on this setting, the active recording will end and a new one will try to start.

Wait Time Variability (%)

This sets a random fluctuation in the wait time before starting a new recording. This allows you to space out new recordings to reduce the change of being rate limited by cam sites.

Video Length Variability (%)

This sets a random range as a percentage of how long the recordings will be.

Offline Retry Wait Time (seconds)

This sets the amount of time to attempt a new recording after a model is offline or in private. Note that this will only happen if Auto Record is set to enabled.

Error Retry Wait Time (seconds)

This sets the amount of time to attempt a new recording after a model is omitted the errored state. Note that this will only happen if Auto Record is set to enabled.
